Comic Review 5/16/12

May 16, 2012 posted by Scott Fine @ 6:13 am 0 comments

Another Wednesday, another large pile of comics to read!

Comics taught me this week that Lady Deathstrike is Australian for fear, friends can be your enemies, Batman doesn't have a favorite color, the origins of last names can be weird, polar bears now live in the Antarctic, and good help isn't hard to find, it's just hard to find cheap.

This week we review Avengers vs. X-Men #4, Nightwing #9, Avengers vs. X-Men Versus #2, Justice League #9, Daredevil #13, Amazing Spider-Man: Ends of the Earth Special and Saga #3.

If anyone has any specific titles you'd read more

Another Wednesday, another Marvel event to read!

Comics taught me this week that bottle imps are sexist, it's never OK to hit on a grieving woman, everything is only valuable in mint condition, in the DC Universe love NEEDS to be blind (sheesh!) and that running a school for mutants always cuts you off at the legs.

This week we review Avengers vs. X-Men #1, Daredevil #10.1, Swamp Thing #8, Animal Man #8, Invincible #90, Fairest #2, Action Comics #8 and Wolverine and the X-Men #8.

If anyone has any specific titles you'd like me to review read more

Last September, DC Comics relaunched their entire line of comics. Calling it the New 52, the DC universe has undergone a soft reboot that keeps certain events from their storied past while altering and updating many of their familiar characters and concepts for modern audiences and new readers alike.

Well, it has been six months so we now have a good read on what titles are the best, worst and perhaps most criminally overlooked of each of the fifty two new titles. We read more

Another Wednesday, another Marvel event to read!

Comics taught me this week that Angel ain't no angel, don't steal your dad's jet pack, lie at work and someone will believe you when you tell them you were attacked by ninjas.

This week we review Avengers vs. X-Men #0, Justice League Dark #7, I, Vampire #7,Angel & Faith #9, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #8, Aquaman #7 and Superman #7.

If anyone has any specific titles you'd like to see reviewed here, sound off in the comments. We'll try to get to all we can!

The Gamer with a Thousand Faces

Mar 22, 2012 posted by Jeff Payne @ 2:49 pm 0 comments

When I think of gamers I think of Call of Duty. First person shooters seem to be the most popular type of game, and have created a benchmark in my head for what a “true gamer” plays. Since I suck at all FPSs (with the exception of maybe Wolfenstein and Zero Tolerance), and therefore never play them, I find it hard to consider myself a “gamer.” I’m not hardcore enough. I have a friend who spends “Double XP Weekend” in his basement, racking up points and drinking Heinken Light. To me, he is the consummate gamer: playing for points, fun and prestige read more
